torch pass

I always find it interesting when someone who has been with a team, a committee, a group that accomplishes magnificent goals together moves on. It’s interesting to see how those who are entrusted with what has been built carries on. If the mission continues or if it eventually falls apart or grows into something even bigger and more world changing.

Scott Whipple started up the Midwest Region of Costumers With a Cause with a belief that one person can do something that matters. My first memory of him venturing out on this was at the MS walk in Naperville. He, and his daughter , Brianne, in costume walked the walk along side myself and our other daughter, Stephanie.

From there, the organization grew in the amount of volunteers, both in and out of costume, and the number of events they attended representing Costumers With A Cause increased as well.  It has been a fabulous ride meeting all the wonderful people with such kind and caring hearts in the Midwest Region. But, Scott is relocating to the ClearWater, FL area in a couple weeks and Brianne has moved out to Oregon. With that being the case, we needed to find people who we could entrust with the Legacy, the Philosophy, of our region’s Costumers With A Cause. I am proud to say, that goal was accomplished rather quickly and with ease.

We looked for specific characteristics, qualities, and of course, capabilities and we were fortunate to find people who we know and trust to take over the leadership of this amazing group, THE BEST volunteer costuming group in the Midwest!

Before we announce who these wonderful people are, ask yourself this?

When you think of your favorite leaders, what words come to mind?

Some of the words we think of are couragecompassionconnection, and conviction.

We also think of hearthopeencouragementinspiration, and optimism.  We also think of accountabilityself-awarenesslearning, growth, and dependability.

It is with much happiness, and with honor, we welcome, and congratulate Chrystine Shelton, Zadok Manny Camacho, David Purkey, and Mary Jo Chrabasz as the now Leadership team of the Midwest Costumers With A Cause!

That being said, don’t think you have heard the end of Scott with Costumers With A Cause, as mentioned, he is relocating to a different region and the possibilities of spreading what he has built in the Midwest, no,let me rephrase that. There is not a doubt in my mind that you will be hearing of more greatness from Costumers With A Cause in the Gulf Coast Region as he works with the group of volunteers already out there and who knows, maybe Brianne will in the future (she is a College student currently), will have the time and interest to start up a group out in her region!

With that, we leave you with one of our favorite leadership quotes ;

“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.”- Jim Rohn
